Operations Manager
We’re looking for someone who has the skills to manage multiple ongoing projects, and work hands-on to make sure they come in on time, and on budget. This is a demanding position, that will require someone with cross-disciplinary skills. Typically, our GMs are responsible for budget, wireframe, estimation, design review, project management coordination (we have a senior PM), developer management, client management, and all of the other skills that go into building your typical Web 2.0 startup and large business customer project). This is an opportunity to grow as a person, and professionally, as you’ll come into contact with many executive level staff as you work, so a calm voice, the ability to bond with our staff, and “get it done” personality are mandatory. You will be working directly with our technical leads and executive management. You will need to be process and doc oriented, and make sure that our distributed team is able to get out from day-to-day project management and focus on the work.
To be clear: This position is managing the day-to-day operations of a quickly growing development company.
We are a leading provider of Drupal-based Social sites, so social experience is a huge plus. In addition, we’re partners in development for the leading Enterprise 2.0 social software platform, Jive Clearspace. These platforms are PHP and Java-based, respectively, so experience managing these technologies is a plus. We’re also working on AIR, Flex, and Flash applications, so experience here is also helpful. This is extremely stimulating, challenging work, and we’re looking for someone with some experience who’s interested in building a career working with talented folks. Web 2.0 development experience is required, and you should have a body of work that will impress. If you’re interested in working on the edge of technology, this is it. This is contract to hire, but after our initial probation period, comes with Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits. We’re also open to flexible work schedules for the right candidate, though this needs to be a physically present position for the majority of the time, due to the job’s complexity and breadth.
This job comes with a comfortable chair, a Macbook Pro, and a top of the line 30” monitor - standard equipment for the company. We’re open to flexible schedules, but it has to be onside in either San Diego, California or Sacramento, California, where we have offices. You’ll be working side-by-side on some of the most interesting projects going, including from-scratch development of entire companies, so this could be really interest for the right person.
