Having the opportunity to work with the pioneer of modern video gaming, and the company responsible for some of the greatest games ever created, was a unique challenge, and an opportunity Workhabit jumped at.

Workhabit was tasked with implementation of the new, including the Mobile application. This was a great challenge, especially considering the last agency to work on their site for them was an agency we have a lot of respect for. We implemented them onto Drupal 7, and working hand-in-hand with Atari, deployed a completely new platform that enables easy management of the both the Mobile and Web properties in one easy-to-work-with interface.

Develop a new Drupal-based platform to complement Atari’s business shift from a boxed product retail game publisher to online and mobile gaming leader. Atari’s new online presence would deliver Digital downloads, mobile applications, and a wealth of online games, while continuing to support the retail game catalog and game support.

Atari’s new platform will provide a framework to further enhance user experience with an improved user registration and profile system to facilitate future integration with online game play, player game play history, high scores, and in game micro-transactions.

The Atari Website was built on a standardized set of reusable components, Atari branded theme, user registration and authentication system, and an API for game data integration, using the Drupal 7 Open Source CMS. The site theme layer used HTML 5 and CSS3. The UI templates emphasized reuse for quick deployment of new pages, views and content blocks.

We used the same foundation to implement a separate mobile site, per client requirements, which leveraged the investment in Drupal to easily reach mobile customers in one, easy-to-use platform.

Since the launch of the new site in December of 2011, has more than a 100% growth in organic Web site traffic, and an in increase of tens-of-thousands of site registrations a month. The new site has also provided Atari the perfect forum to highlight their continual growth in the iOS and Android game market space. The results speak for themselves, and Atari is looking towards continuing the positive trend far into the future.
